Emergency Centre
The 24-hr emergency centre is constantly manned by experienced medical doctors and registered nurses. A specialist rota enables the doctor on duty to call upon a wide spectrum of specialist advise and support. We make use of the international triage system and each patient will be triaged and seen by the doctor accordingly.
Heart Unit
The unit, served by professional and experienced medical specialists, nursing personnel and other professionals, is comprised of specialised operating theatres and heart catheterisation laboratories, in which a variety of procedures, ranging from simple diagnostic to more complicated interventional procedures are performed. A structured patient rehabilitation programme that addresses a variety of patient lifestyle issues is also presented within the unit.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Highly specialised and dedicated medical specialists and nursing personnel play an essential role in the treatment and care of the babies within this unit. The unit is comprised of highcare, intensive care beds, and special isolation units, and is equipped with the latest medical technological equipment in order to care for the infants.
Oncology Unit
The Mediclinic Vereeniging oncology unit is by far the largest and busiest unit in the area, with appropriate equipment and staffing levels, allowing all treatment to be performed during normal working hours, in contrast with other oncology units in the country. Radiotherapy treatment is supported by radiotherapists, a full-time medical physicist and a mould room technologist. Chemotherapy treatment is administered by registered professional nurses. Brachytherapy is also performed in conjunction with the Urologists working at the hospital.
Burns Unit
Mediclinic Vereeniging has a cutting-edge Burns Unit dedicated to treating acute burn wounds, burn resuscitation, and reconstructive burn surgery. The highly specialised unit complements a multidisciplinary team dedicated to meeting the complex medical needs of patients with severe burns. Mediclinic Vereeniging is committed to providing outpatient care and appropriate counselling to burn victims and their families.
