Mediclinic Vergelegen will be expanding its essential cardiac support to meet the growing needs of the community. The long awaited Electrophysiology/Cathlab project commenced on Tuesday 20 February 2024.
The construction period is expected to last between 6-8 months, which will see the Electrophysiology lab built above our current Emergency Centre (Block 3) and connected to the existing Cathlab.
During the demolition and construction phases, certain services or access points will be impacted. As a result of this, the Emergency Centre entrance will be closed during the abovementioned construction period.
Patients and visitors requiring access to the Emergency Centre will be required to access the hospital through Consulting Block 2 which has been allocated as an alternative entrance and to refer to the additional directional signage put in place to ensure a streamlined patient experience.
Arrangements have been made to ensure patient safety and traffic flow into the building. Ample parking will be available outside the main entrance of the facility as well as outside of the Block 1 consulting area.
We acknowledge that visits from family and friends are an important part of the recovery process, and for this reason, managed flexible visiting hours will still apply (09:00 - 20:00) with a resting period between 13:00-15:00. ICU visiting times may differ slightly.
While parking availability during peak times may be impacted and increased noise levels may occur, we want to assure the community that this will be managed as best as possible by the hospital to minimise the impact.
We would like to thank our patients and community for their understanding as we bring this much needed Electrophysiology/Cathlab service. We will continue to engage with the community to keep you informed.
