What is Nursing?
Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups, communities, sick or well across various settings. Nursing includes promoting health, preventing illness and caring for ill, disabled and dying people (International Council of Nurses, 2002).
Mediclinic values the contribution of nursing to ensure that each of our clients receives the best possible clinical outcomes across our continuum of care. As nurses, we can heal our patients' minds, souls, hearts, and bodies.
“They may forget your name but they will never forget how you made them feel.”
- Maya Angelou

Nursing Philosophy
In Mediclinic, we believe each person is a unique being, with distinctive physical, psychological and social needs. Nursing is a service to mankind, which enables the maintenance of health and prevention of disease. When disease occurs, nurses provide care to cope with diseases and return to health. Where recovery from illness is not possible, the patient deserves the necessary support to die in peace and with dignity.
