Mediclinic Potchefstroom is pleased to announce the relaunch of its 24-hour Emergency Centre under new management of MedExigence, as of 18 July 2024, providing a high-quality service to our community.

The unit is under the highly qualified leadership of Dr Alide Cato specialising in Emergency Medicine, supported by a team of highly trained registered doctors serving patients and families across Potchefstroom and surrounding areas.

“We are excited to be able to partner with Dr Cato and her team, who share our value of enhancing our client’s quality of life. While emergencies cannot be predicted when they do arise, our community can rest assured that we are there to cater to all their emergency and medical needs in a professional and empathetic environment,” explains Danie Scholtz, Mediclinic Potchefstroom Hospital General Manager.

Mediclinic Potchefstroom applies the internationally recognised South African Triage Scale to ensure patients are treated effectively with access to standard radiology services to more complex investigations such as Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

The Mediclinic Potchefstroom Emergency Centre caters for a broad range of services such as emergency transfers, emergency admissions across antenatal, paediatric through to geriatric patients. Workman’s compensation (WCA) patients are accepted and as an additional key service to the community, outpatients requiring intravenous medication on a regular basis are also supported. Our specialists are also able to support clients requiring high-risk medications such as infusions or injections within the unit.

“Every patient’s care is important, from life changing incidents to minor care requirements, we prioritise and treat every patient to meet their needs,” Scholtz concludes.
