Core competencies
Dr Venter completed her MBChB from the University of Pretoria (UP). After working as an orthopaedic registrar at Steve Biko Academic Hospital from 2011 to 2013, she decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Sports Medicine, which she obtained at UP in 2017.
Dr Venter’s research on concussion in mixed martial arts athletes was published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. She was invited to present her research at the International Conference on Concussion in Sport in Berlin. Dr Venter worked as team doctor for the Blue Bulls Rugby Union during the 2016 season and completed an LLB degree at UNISA in the same year. She is a member of the South African Medicolegal Association.
In 2017, Dr Venter was offered an orthopaedic surgery registrar position at Groote Schuur Hospital, where she obtained her MMED Orthopaedics degree Cum Laude in 2021. Her research on multi-ligament knee injuries was published in an international journal and presented at various congresses.
Dr Venter was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Orthopaedic Surgeons (SA) in 2021 and as advocate of the High Court of Pretoria in 2022.
