Paediatric and Adult Neurosurgery - Pediatric and Brain Tumor Surgery
Prof. Llewellyn Padayachy is a multi-award-winning neurosurgeon, internationally renowned for his expertise in minimally invasive surgical techniques in brain tumour and hydrocephalus surgery. He is a clinical professor and heads the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Pretoria. He is also chief specialist and paediatric neurosurgeon at Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria.
Prof. Padayachy received his FCS (Neurosurgery) with distinction and was awarded the Roland Krynauw medal. He completed his MMed and PhD from the University of Cape Town and received the prestigious Hamilton Naki Scholarship thereafter, leading to a postdoctoral clinical fellowship at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Oxford.
The professor is an NRF (National Research Foundation) rated scientist with an extensive publication record. He is a frequent guest speaker at national and international neurosurgical conferences, serves as a reviewer for several leading international medical journals, and has been elected to executive roles on various international neurosurgical societies.
Now at Mediclinic Sandton, Prof. Padayachy’s vast knowledge and experience will be of benefit to patients in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs and beyond. He looks forward to working with Mediclinic on its vision of establishing a centre of excellence for the treatment of brain tumours, hydrocephalus and minimally invasive surgery.
