Mediclinic is an international hospital group with more than 100 hospitals and clinics in four countries, 52 of which are in Southern Africa. Mediclinic places a strong emphasis on the training of healthcare professionals in support of our purpose, ‘to enhance the quality of life’. With this in mind a substantial amount of time and resources are allocated in the organisation towards training.
Mediclinic has six Higher Education Learning Centres providing qualifications to Nurses, Paramedics and now for the first time, to Diagnostic and Procedural Coders and Emergency Care Assistants. An Advanced Diploma in Health Services Management and Leadership is also offered. This programme equips managers with the unique skills required for managing and leading in the Healthcare environment.
Annually, Achievers Ceremonies are held where the Mediclinic Private Higher Education Institution gives recognition for academic achievements. Special awards are given to students who achieved exceptional results in the theoretical and clinical components of the programmes.
The theme for this year is ‘Care goes further than you Think’ and refers to the intense care-giving role expected of these professionals, who do so without always considering their own personal and emotional needs when they put those of their patients first. Their dedication has a ripple effect on the families and communities of their patients.
This year 119 learners are recognised for their achievements. This includes 27 achievers from the learning centre in the Free State (Bloemfontein), 40 achievers from the learning centres in Gauteng (Sandton & Pretoria), 11 from Polokwane (Limpopo) and 4 from Mpumalanga (Nelspruit), and 39 from the Learning Centre in the Cape (Bellville).
Congratulations go to all the students on the achievement of their qualification, and we encourage them to focus on having purpose in their lives, while considering how caring can enrich their own lives.
The success of the Mediclinic students can be attributed to the dedicated team of Educators in the six registered Learning Centres, the Learning and Development Facilitators and mentors at the Mediclinic hospitals and ER24, where students complete their clinical training.
Mediclinic is proud of the achievements of its students and is committed to continue training health care practitioners, thus addressing the scarcity of skills in the country, while enabling the provision of safe, quality care – the expertise you can trust. Mediclinic strives, through its investment in training, to improve clinical outcomes and to enhance the patient experience.
